First Fridays on 4th and Hot August Nights

Santa Rosa, CA, July 15, 2009 – Taking place the first Friday of every month from May to September, First Fridays on 4th, is the City of Santa Rosa’s summer block party. Running from E Street on the East side of downtown, to Wilson Street in Railroad Square, First Fridays is a celebration of art, food, music and culture. Join us from 4 to 8 PM, the first Friday of the month.

Courthouse Square Performances:

Railroad Square’s Depot Park Performances:

In addition to music along 4th Street, and artist & crafters showing in Courthouse and Railroad Squares, a select number of merchants will be presenting artists and activities:

Cast Away Yard Shop with be hosting a needle-felting contest and workshop

Café Azul will be presenting painter Mylette Welch. Welch’s paintings are rooted in the Sonoma County landscape- gas stations, farmer’s markets, neighbor’s gardens, old trucks, and burger stands.

Railroad Square Association will be providing horse and carriage rides from Depot Park.

ArtSpace404, 404 Mendocino Ave., will be presenting Illuminated Architecture II. Phantom Gallery, 535 7th Street, will be open with the 1st Annual Members Exhibit and the Sonoma County Museum, 425 7th Street, continues with Chuck Close: A Couple of Ways of Doing Something and opens Latin Artists/Alters, in addition to hosting jazz trio, Dan McGhee Three.

First Fridays on 4th is sponsored by the City of Santa Rosa’s Redevelopment Agency, in coordination with the Arts District … Downtown Santa Rosa, the Historic Railroad Square Association and the Arts Council of Sonoma County.
