Aprons, aprons, aprons! They are a consumately useful garment with pockets for neccessities, a skirt to bag to carry things, a wipe to clean things, protection from spills, splatters and sawdust, as well as an expression of the day’s persona and plans. The apron is a garment of many moods: demure, frugal, comforting, hard-working, flirty, celebratory, artistic. . . It’s a costume easily assumed and easily changed!
Aprons remind me of Grandma and my great aunts in their bungalow or farmhouse kitchens or masterminding the family reunion, of uncles in their shops or at their barbeques, of the church ladies at potluck suppers and rummage sales, of the vendors at farm markets and craft fairs, of eager children learning to cook with Mommy or Gandma or deeply absorbed in their art projects, of gardeners young and old. I love them all! Check in often to see if the apron for your need is here!
